Probably the first thing after Beth said “I want you to photograph my wedding”, was “there is going to be crying– lots, and lots, of crying– and I’m an ugly crier, so be ready for that.” Beth does not lie about these things– so many crazy happy tears all around that day. Beth works for June Lion so I’ve had an inside on all their elaborate wedding ideas. Their movie referencing video wedding invitation, their field “survival” guides to “Camp Epic”– what they called their weekend of camping and shenanigans at Pendarvis Farm, Beth’s amazing handmade dress (well, at least the skirt), Beth walked down the aisle to “The Imperial March” from Star Wars played on a solo violin, playing “Rock-Paper-Scissors” to see who said their vows first, “exchanged rings” by using a sharpie to draw them on (soon to be replaced with tattoos), a kick ball game (since that’s how they met a lot of their friends), a talent show as the main event for their reception, zombie and skeleton cake toppers, a s’mores bar, button “badges” to earn throughout the wedding, oh and they MADE THEIR OWN BEER. Something else you should know about Beth and Garrett is that their love of beer is probably only surpassed by their closest friends and family. Beyond the beer (Ball and Chain RyePA), hops decorated both the ceremony and reception, beer ingredient boutonnieres, and of course there is Beth’s hops tattoo. Beth and Garrett’s talents never end and they designed all the awesome printed goods. I truly loved how they took another look as to what a wedding is supposed to be and what you’re supposed to do and put their personalities into ever last bit of it.
I think we can safely say Beth and Garrett’s wedding was pretty epic.
Thanks so much to Jen Hecht for doing such a great job of second shooting, capturing gorgeous moments, and “Pendarvising” with me.
