The Scottish Rite– what a trippy place for a wedding. All the history and occult undertones was pretty inspiring. There were hand painted backdrops from the very early 1900’s, a historic pipe organ, creepy barbershop/dentist area, theater-style seating, secret books in the library, electric candelabras, stained glass and so many painted portraits. The site coordinator told me you could have your choice of getting married in front of the enchanted forest backdrop Meredith and Barry chose, an army camp, some ancient ruins, or a hell scene.
Meredith and Barry met ballroom dancing at Oregon State. He was into a comic revolving around dinosaurs at the time, and she would give him little dino trinkets–origami T. rex, hand drawn pictures, etc–They grew to associate dinos with their love, hence all the dinosaur decor.
They loved the double exposures they’ve seen me do so I created some for them and developed a new technique you will see in some of the reception shots toward the end that I’m pretty pumped about.
A special big thanks to Beth Olson for second shooting with me and making such great art for Meredith and Barry.
