Day in the Life Sessions: Atalanta & Owen
“Day in the Life” sessions are a documentary family photography session in which I don’t give you any direction, you live life as you normally would, and I’m there to find the art in it. Everyone has perfect-messy lives, and I love nothing more than to find the beauty in it, so you can can look at it in 5 and 50 years from now, and see/feel/remember what life what like for you and your kids, during their childhood. It’s the small simple moments of life that you will easily forget, but it’s also the little bits that bring joy to you daily, and are unique to you.
The worry I hear the most is “it will be exhausting because it’s such a long time to take photographs”. But since I’m not directing you at all, we don’t have any certain expectations for what we want you or your kids to do, and you are just living your life like you would if I wasn’t there– I promise it’s not stressful at all. If your kid doesn’t like being told what to do, or is neurodivergent, this is the type of session that’s especially perfect for them.
Atalanta and Owen made my heart happy to see a mother and child so connected, they were also friends. I hope I get to keep documenting them year after year, and see if she can still hold him upside down the next time, and see if he still eats 4 meals in a 4 hour span.
And then here is the gallery wall we designed for their family room. Family photos on the walls really do make your house and home, and are a daily reminder to your kids, just how much they are loved.
