Portland Family Photographer: Fall Family Outfits For Photoshoots

So it’s fall family photo time, and a pain-point I often hear from my clients is that they don’t know how to dress the family for a photo shoot. I do offer a free online style service special for my clients that has been helpful for any time of year, but this post shows some families I’ve photographed that have put together some great family outfits for fall that may inspire you. I think some of these fall outfits ideas may be unexpected! This is also proof I do shoot color despite all the black and white on my website 😉

Here are some “Do’s” for your fall family photo outfits:

-Chunky knit sweaters

-Cardigans with flowy dresses and tight

-Leather, velvet, or denim jacket

-Anything with great texture: twill, corduroy, flannel, knits, ruffles, denim, velvet

-Layers: Great for adding texture but you can also remove/add layers for different looks

-Warm neutrals, and muted colors such as: cream, mustard, rust, maroon, camel, forest or sage green, navy, dusty pinks, brown, black, warm grays

-Wearing layers is best for cold weather (wear thermal underwear under the cute clothes), but if a coat is needed, go for something timeliness like a wool pea coat, or corduroy coat.

-Cute stocking caps for littles that may get cold more easily

-Washed demin and chambray shirts

-Boots/booties
